On November 23rd, be.Living opened its doors to one of the most eagerly awaited events of the year: E.C.A. Day (Extra-Curricular Activities Day). The celebration transformed the school into a vibrant space where we used creativity and sensitivity to share with the families what students have been learning. During the event, Elementary School students demonstrated achievements that reflected the all-round development and educational values promoted by extracurricular activities throughout the year.
Fábio Cabianca, soccer coach and PE teacher, and advisor for extracurricular activities at be.Living, explains that the main aim of the event is to give families the opportunity to catch up on what the children have learned and experienced during the year. “The presentations are a way of materializing this learning, creating a special moment of connection between the students, their families and the school,” Fábio said.
E.C.A. Day featured a broad range of activities that translated the concept of meaningful learning into each presentation. Activities included theater, guitar, soccer, yoga, circus, judo and even Spanish lessons. Each performance was designed to reflect the development of students in a creative and unique way. In the theater, the acts involved elaborate sets, while in the circus the children performed fabric acrobatics and human pyramids. In music, the spotlight was on the acoustic guitar and ukulele, with songs that moved the audience.
Fábio added that the sports presentations also generated some remarkable moments. “We organized soccer matches that involved children and their families, promoting a pleasant, bonding interaction that promoted mutual understanding among them. In judo, the change of belts symbolized not only technical learning, but also personal development, which is very significant for the children.”
As well as highlighting the skills developed by students in each activity, the event strengthened the emotional bond between the students and their families. For the children, it was a very exciting time. “They get butterflies in their stomachs, they’re just so excited. Their joy really comes through when they show what they have learned. The soccer and judo medal ceremonies, for example, is always highly anticipated. In theater, the students show self-confidence, something that has been cultivated throughout the year,” said Fábio.
For families, the event is an opportunity to follow the children’s progress and recognize their efforts and dedication. “Family members realize that the students’ progress goes beyond technique: it involves building values, resilience and increasing autonomy. It’s a moment that encourages continued involvement in their development,” he added.
be.Living’s extracurricular activities have proved to have a transformative role in students’ education. According to Fábio, sports and cultural activities are key to promoting good social interaction. “In sports, we work on issues such as healthy competition, teaching the kids how to cope with winning and losing. Much like in the games, teamwork is also essential in theater, for example, as they all need each other to create a cohesive performance. These experiences contribute to the development of socio-emotional skills that are crucial to anyone’s life,” he explained.
The teacher also stressed that the main aim of these practices is not to train athletes or artists, but to integrate sport and the arts into students’ lives, promoting health, balance and quality of life. “We want them to take these experiences with them forever, incorporating the practice of physical and cultural activities, as well as their benefits, as part of their daily lives,” concluded Fábio.
Thus, E.C.A. Day reaffirmed be.Living’s purpose of offering meaningful education through remarkable experiences that turn into real learning. By showcasing the talent, dedication and progress of students in each performance, the event provided moments of joy, emotion and collective learning. It was a celebration that not only ended the school year on a high note, but also sowed the seeds for a promising future that will certainly result in new discoveries!
