Education That Celebrates Childhood

At be.Living, we view children as unique and capable individuals with a profound desire and capacity to explore and learn. We believe in the importance of seeing, hearing, and protecting their rights. This thoughtful and sensitive perspective, which recognizes childhood as a foundational stage of human existence, is rooted in a relatively recent historical understanding.

Our early childhood education project is based on the premise that children are individuals with unique cultural and social backgrounds, developing autonomy, and the capacity to inquire about themselves and the world around them.

At the same time, each child brings a unique set of experiences and skills to the educational setting, shaped by their individual backgrounds and circumstances. By staying attentive and open to what children bring to us each day, we collaborate with them to organize a series of challenges and pathways for cognitive and emotional growth. This approach supports their holistic development and nurtures the flourishing of their full potential.

Our Space

At be.Living, each environment is designed and constructed with the purpose of serving as an educational space. These are places of power, creation, exploration, and research where our educators propose experiences and situations with the aim of offering welcoming, challenging, and inspiring experiences that will culminate in meaningful learning for the children.

Both our Early Childhood Education and Elementary School units feature outdoor areas that immerse students in the natural world. We believe that reconnecting with nature is essential for human development and learning, and our outdoor spaces facilitate this connection.

Bilingualism

At be. Living, bilingual education transcends learning English as a second language. Unlike learning English, our children learn in English. Learning unfolds through a variety of carefully designed experiences that immerse children in everyday life using English. It takes place during school curriculum activities, in relationships, through forms of expression and logical reasoning, and in engaging with physical movement and the arts.

This meaningful immersion in the English language, which begins in Kindergarten and deepens with the study of language in its oral and written dimensions in Elementary School, provides students with a valuable foundation in the language. By experiencing the social function of language, children achieve effective learning outcomes while simultaneously broadening their worldview and expanding their potential for knowledge acquisition.

To learn more about our vision of bilingualism, please watch this video featuring Patricia Pavan, be.Living’s pedagogical director.

Sustainability

When we inquire about the desired future for our children, we recognize that this is not a rhetorical question. Rather, it is a call to action, requiring the construction of a world through both small and large experiences.

For this reason, sustainability is a core concept within be.Living’s Pedagogical Political Project, with broad meanings and present in both our educational practices and school management.

Through a variety of experiences and learning opportunities, we aim to provide an education that fosters critical, immersive, and effective sustainability. Our goal is to create a school environment where students can develop genuine, conscious relationships with the collective and the world, both in terms of knowledge and actions.

Joining the Schools for Climate Movement

Destino Certo Campaign (Recycling)

In 2024, be.Living became the proud recipient of the Level 5 Schools for Climate label. This seal serves to acknowledge the institution’s fulfillment of its commitments upon joining this movement, thereby validating the school’s involvement in sustainable actions.

To attain the highest level of the label, level 5, we depend on the assistance and dedication of our entire team.  Our educators participate in the Reconexão Program, which is endorsed by Reconectta. This program provides recurring advice and training on sustainability. In 2023, our teachers Juliana Sá and Milena Macedo were presented with the Projects for Sustainability Award at an event organized by the Schools for Climate movement.

Partnership with Families

A key aspect of the be.Living education project is the partnership with families. We are confident that the ongoing dialogue between the school and the families, and the active involvement of the families in the school’s processes, enhances the educational and formative experience of the children.

We endeavor to maintain an open and honest dialogue with families, respecting their input and differences while fostering the growth of each child.

As an educational institution, we recognize that this collaborative process allows us to continuously improve our practices.

Based on these principles, this partnership is built day by day through a variety of activities, including collective and individual meetings, the monitoring of pedagogical productions, participation in school events, and ongoing dialogue with our team of educators.

Our Educators

The school is the ideal setting for training and development. The learning environment is centered on the knowledge produced by humanity, knowledge of others, and knowledge of oneself. It is a venue for cognitive and citizen training. Given that this is a place of education, we believe that all members of the school should be involved in the educational processes.

At be.Living, we have a long-standing commitment to viewing teachers as learners and researchers, continuously developing their expertise in the field of education. It is for this reason that we endeavour to establish a framework within which the entire educational team can perform their duties in a uniform manner, in accordance with our Pedagogical Political Project.

Training meeting with Claudio Thebas

With this aim, we carry out periodic training with teachers, through individual and collective meetings that broaden the perspective on the daily life of each class, generating new dialogues and perspectives on teaching practices. As part of this concept, we also regularly hold the Olhares Congress, in which we deepen our discussions through presentations and debates that focus on the main themes and projects of each segment.

Discover our History

Be.Living was born in 2000 with a single child and a powerful vision: to create a nurturing environment where young children can live and learn, surrounded by love, respect, and cooperation. From the very beginning, we have embraced an educational philosophy that recognizes each individual as a unique, creative, and autonomous being, capable of seeking knowledge and overcoming challenges.

Our mission to shape responsible and conscientious individuals—guided by values and principles that enrich their own lives and the lives of those around them—has become firmly established. On this journey toward a better world, we remain steadfast in our ideals, always believing that, above all, education is an act of love.
