When babies come into the world, a plethora of possibilities, discoveries, perceptions, sensations, and experiences open up to them. The adventure of living has begun! With the intention of offering a space for these precious beings to discover the beauty of being, growing and recognizing each other in this sacred stage of life that it is the beginning of their journey in the world, we are opening our school to welcome them, with great affection, into our baby.Living project. Every afternoon from Monday to Thursday, families and babies will be able to participate in activities carefully mediated by our pedagogical team, experiencing remarkable and meaningful exchanges for both the babies and their caregivers. Learn about the experiences:
Based on a science called psychomotricity, the experience “Life in motion” seeks to fully consolidate babies’ development, giving consideration to their cognitive, emotional, and motor functions. The
method is playful, with music and games, allowing and fostering exploration and the most diverse experiences on this earth; valuing the baby’s individuality and having their well-being as one of the main goals. Our work is based on the methodology of Janine Lévy, which is a teaching based on the whole idea that Life is Motion, that it is essential to give the baby a bodily experience, the body being its greatest and most intricate instrument of communication with the outside world. The
atmosphere is emotional and stimulating, but also reassuring and not overexciting. This activity benefits babies in many ways. It improves blood circulation, promotes quality sleep, increases appetite and
stimulates sensory pathways. Moreover, it strengthens muscle tone and develops psychomotor skills, respecting the baby’s neuromaturation process, and improves the child’s perception and attention.
Psychomotricity also increases brain capacity, boosting babies’ ability to assimilate as they begin to discover new skills on their own, and improves their social skills—although the babies don't play together, they sense that they are part of a group.
Music precedes human speech. It is a means of expression, interaction, and communication with the universe!
Harp, violin, flutes, percussion… so many possibilities! What sounds do the instruments make? And how do we get sound from each one of them? In Musical Discoveries, babies and caregivers will have contact with different musical experiences: beating drums, shaking rattles, scraping reco-recos, strumming strings… They will also experience music with their own bodies: dancing and experimenting with the sounds we can make with our hands, feet, mouth, and breath.
Studies have proven that songs and the world of music games contribute to the development and learning of children from the womb. According to neuroscientist Elvira Souza Lima, author of the book Cérebro Musical (The Musical Brain), children who have contact with music from an early age have “a greater chance of the left and right sides of the brain intercommunicating better, developing thought activity in a more substantial way”.
The workshop will also provide contact with the great wealth of Brazilian culture through singing and dancing games, nursery rhymes, and lullabies. There will be meaningful discoveries of all kinds: children with music, children with other children, adults with children, and each and every one with Brazilian culture.
The experience “The Art of Feeling” is a moment dedicated to the baby’s sensory education. Through Art, the workshop aims to promote a fertile field of possibilities where the child, with the support of the mediator, will experience emotional and physical sensations by inquisitively experimenting and playing with various artistic resources. This will be an adventure on the path to self-discovery, in which doing, searching, and experimenting will be experienced by everyone—adults and babies alike—, with the freedom to create, practice, deconstruct, and start all over, going wherever the feeling takes us and wherever we wish to go.
These will be powerful moments of discovery, in which the be.Living educator will be a affectionate ally.
